She bought the doll at the Convention for 70 USD, she said. Mattel Inc.'s Barbie doll debuted at New York Toy Fair in 1959 as a teenage fashion model sporting her now legendary ponytail hairstyle, black and white bathing suit, open toes shoes, sunglasses and hoop earrings. The 2006 Convention has been organized by local doll clubs of California with the attendance of hundred of dealers and collectors from different parts of the US and the world.
