Daniel Smith Acrylic Gesso

Daniel Smith’s Acrylic Gesso has a thick yet brush-able consistency. This heavy coverage gesso allows a complete finish in two coats instead of three. Acrylic Gesso is more flexible than oil grounds, and does not contain oil acids that can deteriorate cotton and linen canvas fibers.

Daniel Smith makes this luxurious gesso by mixing professional-grade acrylic emulsion with Mica and iron oxides. Once dry, the gesso has a gorgeous metallic sheen that shows through brushstrokes and gives transparent paints a golden glow. Over time the heavy Mica particles in this ground will sink to the bottom of the container.
