This is a downloadable sewing pattern for a Ladybug costume. This cute award-winning ladybug got us the prize for the best costume at a recent dress-up event. The Ladybug Costume pattern includes the dress, wings, and hat. This sewing tutorial comes with step-by-step written instructions and a video tutorial. The pattern does not include the t-shirt and leggings. You can get this pattern FOR FREE as a thank-you gift for my email subscribers. If you would like to become a subscriber and get notified on new patterns, sewing, and pattern-making stuff every week and also download this pattern for free, subscribe through the box here. Ladybug costume features: • dress, hat, and wings included in the pattern; • layered PDF feature of the pattern. This allows you to print only the sizes you are going to need. • seam and hem allowance included; • a step-by-step video tutorial. Materials: Fabric: Red knitted fabric. It may be any type of jersey, knit, spandex, or rayon. It is important to have a 4-way stretch so that the foam rubber fits into the wings easily. I used 95/5 cotton/elastane. Fabric consumption: up to 1.7 yards/1.5 meters. Other materials: 1. 20 inches / 50 cm foam rubber sheet. I used a 1/2 inch (1.5 cm) wide foam rubber sheet. You may use one that is a little wider or thinner. 2. Some kind of thick black fabric for the spots. I used plush because it is thick enough to prevent the glue leak through. You are going to need 4 inches (10 cm) for the spots. 3. Textile glue (optional). You may as well sew the spots in place. 4. Pipe cleaners and 2 pom poms for the antennae. If you prefer you may use a headband instead of the hat. I made the costume in the winter and a hat seemed more appropriate. For full written and video sewing instructions, read the pattern release post. Skill level: Intermediate, sewing with knits.   Size: US 2 - 7 years, EU 92 - 122 (see the size chart in images for detailed measurements). This size chart is for body measurements, not for ready garment measurements. Make sure to follow the fabric recommendations and choose a size according to your body measurements. Printing: This pattern is designed to print on A4 or US Letter (8.5” x 11”) size paper. Your computer or device must have Adobe Acrobat to open this file. Detailed printing and cutting instructions are included in the pattern. Have questions or concerns? Email me at daniela@
